Why Your Donation Matters

AMP is a chorus of voices representing every part of the Austin live music community, and there are ways for everyone to be part of — and invest in — this work. Whether you choose to join us as a donor or a volunteer, you’ll get unparalleled access to the industry, a respected voice on issues affecting the live music community, and the opportunity to make a difference.

As the nonprofit advocacy group representing Austin’s music industry, AMP cannot receive government funding or foundation grants.  We are funded 100% by private donations from supporters like you.

Your gift helps cover expenses ranging from clipboards and pens for our deputy voter registrars and posters to raise awareness of important issues…to policy research, data collection, and the work that informs our biennial State of the Austin Music Industry white paper. You don’t need to be a zillionaire to be a philanthropist: every gift can and does make a difference.

Please help ensure that Austin music continues to have a voice at City Hall and the Capitol by making your gift, of any size, today!

  • AMP is the only music organization in Austin that’s actually a business trade association – not a public charity – and is focused on the economic growth of our multibillion dollar music industry and of our home city, the Live Music Capital of the World. We understand the dual bottom line in today’s competitive economy: economic development balanced with quality of life.  With the mobility of in-demand creative people, quality of place is a significant determinant in where they choose to put down roots.    At AMP, we’re doing our part to keep Brand Austin compelling and attractive in practical, tangible ways:

    • Our policy “wins” at City Hall – loading zones, extended parking, neighborhood-friendly music permits –make big real-life differences to Austin’s small businesses, their employees, and the tax base. Over time, these combine to form a substantial column of support for Austin’s economy, jobs, salaries, and music industry.
    • We initiate meaningful relationships and partnerships with leaders  of other industries –from game developers  and filmmakers to real estate leaders –to work proactively together toward Austin’s future.
    • We develop State and City policy recommendations; communicate and advocate with our membership and the community at large about them to build a broad base of support and drive good economic development that supports the music industry.

Austin’s  music scene is the envy of cities across the globe, and serves as an economic engine bringing in more than $1.6 billion to our city annually – a number that’s growing every year.  Those of us who live here understand that this amazing engine didn’t make itself.   It’s the end product of decades of planning, hard work, collaboration, and smart investment. Our sponsors receive:

    • Key updates on issues related to music in Austin
    • Invitations to AMP members-only shows, events and discounts, including the new AMP Presents series
    • Invitation for two to semi-annual private dinners with AMP Founders, Board and Committee Members (Spring and Fall)
    • Sponsor-only pre-sale access to tickets for AMP Presents shows throughout the year
    • Listing on website and other major promotional materials  for sponsored events
    • and more

  • The engine behind AMP’s increasing momentum is our committed and creative volunteer base.  Whether you have an hour a month or several hours a week, with AMP, you can make a very real difference in the Austin music community.

Our volunteer opportunities include participation in booths and behind-the-scenes at Austin’s biggest live music festivals, working with artists and venues on benefit events, registering voters, and circulating petitions. We also welcome talented graphic designers, web geniuses, social media gurus, networking mavens, and awesome photographers.
